The owner of Capital Home Improvements Paul Conklin met with us August 3rd 2024 about a large project on our house. The work began promptly on August 4th. The work included, new roof, siding, windows, gutters, garage door, sliding glass door, adding a covered porch, sidewalk and concrete removal, basement waterproofing and attic insulation.
Paul has received multiple checks from us totaling $65,000. To date (October 11th 2024) only the roof is done. The siding is incomplete and poorly done, not one window is finished. Empty "Twisted Tea" bottles were found throw around with the rest of the junk in our yard. Nobody in our family drinks so i wonder where they came from? Our yard is trashed with garbage and it's tore up.
Slowly the workers stopped showing up and Paul removed the Capital Home Improvements sign from our yard. Paul won't respond to calls or texts asking to meet. Only one day in the past 3 weeks has anybody showed up to work. This was because there was a bay window sitting in our driveway not installed. It was installed, but like the rest of the windows not completed.
Two and a half months and $65,000 invested and this is what we get from Paul Conklin and Capital Home Improvements. We have contacted the attorney general, BBB and our personal attorney. Our house has been ruined, windows are not sealed and winter is approaching. The amount of stress this has put on our family is unacceptable.
Update, 10/18. Still haven't heard or seen from Capital Home Improvements. OCWA stopped by today because our water meter was disconnected from the side of the house where they were putting siding. Also, some of the completed siding on the front of the house started falling off. The house is very cold at night and in the morning since all of the windows are unfinished and unsealed. This includes my daughter's room that has two of the unfinished windows.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Capital Home Improvement, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results. Paul and his team were exceptional from start to finish. They built an amazing addition behind my home, and the entire process was seamless.
Paul was incredibly honest, diligent, organized, and professional throughout the project. He and his crew worked quickly and accurately, ensuring that every detail was perfect. The team, which included carpenters, plumbers, and builders, demonstrated impressive skill and coordination.
Without a doubt, Paul is the best professional I’ve ever worked with in home improvement. If you're looking for top-notch craftsmanship and reliable service, look no further than Capital Home Improvement. Highly recommended!

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! My sister and two friends recommended Capital Home Improvements because they had roofs done. We can't say enough about how happy we are with our new roof. We had two layers on our old roof which they stripped off in one day and the weather turned, so they got everything buttoned up to make it through to the next dry day. 48 hours later, the sun came out and they finished the job. They even put in the gutter guards we bought to keep the leaves out. We also got a 50 year Owens Corning transferable warranty.
We bought the crew pizza to say thank you.

I am beyond disappointed while writing this review. I hired Paul and his company Capital Home improvement last summer on 8/28/2020 to replace the roof of a rental property in Syracuse. We paid large deposit per Paul's request and signed the contract indicating the work would be started on 9/8/2020 and done by 9/20/2020. However, 7 + month later, as of 4/5/2021, the roof was not even 30% complete! As the pictures I uploaded would show how bad the situation is.
I was trying to be understanding each time when Paul called or delay happened. However the promised finish date just be changed and pushed for many times.
The incomplete roofing work left the property exposed to the harsh winter in Syracuse.
Our tenants are extremely unhappy with not well-insulated house.
The trash hauler was left to block the driveway for a month causing inconvenience to the tenants.
Worst of all, the crew left many construction debris (including roofing nails) on the roof and tenants constantly reported nails on the driveway. One tenant got flat tire due to these nails.
This incident led us to discover that the liability insurance he carried was FORTIFIED. We are going to take action and report this criminal act to district attorney and police department.
Per our recent phone conversation (4/5/2021) with Paul, he asked for more money to purchase materials and claims that this project won't be started until 4/26 (On March 2021, his recent "promise" was that this roofing project will be done by the end of April) if we don't pay for materials.
I hired Paul and his company 5 years ago to fix roof/wall water damage at my residence. They did a good job back then. However, at this point, I lost all my faith with this company and its owner Paul.
